What is your FAVORITE Holiday?

Mine is and forever will be Christmas. I can't say that I decorate a ton but I do have a tree and a few nic-nacs. Jaxon, When he was almost 1 loved the ornaments so much he knocked over the tree. At that time I had a tree full of unique hand blown ornaments, of course you know when they hit the floor they go to ornament heaven.....It is okay each year I continue to collect my own handblown ornaments and as a tradition I have started,I get an ornament for each of the kids so when they leave home they have their own collection for their tree. I do have a nice collection of the cool glass "inside" painted ornaments from Pier 1 Imports....a fave store of mine. They make great gifts. So now we resort to a tree full of ornaments the kids have made...We made salt dough ornaments one year but we can't put those up cause Jaxon tried to eat them...LOL. We have fun making ornaments for the tree. Another tradition in the making. My favorite present for Christmas is my stocking....full of sweet little surprises. It is usually what I shop for first when it comes to the kids presents. My mom always had the best little treats in our stockings and if we got up earlier than her we could always open it without her being there.....little did she know, it was my favorite present. Don't get me wrong I loved everything but I love a gift with "little" stuff. I think that is why I love to fill a gift bag or box with little unique items that I have searched for. It makes for a more personal gift.

So What is your favorite holiday memory?

For my layout, My favorite memories of all is the time we spend together as a family. The whole day no distractions of work or phone....Just family. We spend Christmas day with Jasins mom, brothers and step-dad. This year will be very different. We are going to be visiting my dad. My Dad lives in Missouri with his wife and my sister, Julie and her family and my 2 step brothers and their family. This year will be the first Christmas I have ever spent with my dad. Ever in my life. So I am excited and can't wait. Lots of new memories to be made!

Here is my layout for our design team at What is Your Fave Thing?

The paper is Bo-Bunny. Love the vintage santa and angel. Great paper. The lace I found at a wholesale place. It has Santa and his reindeer. The santas list card came in a pack from October Afternoon. 2 prima flowers and a vintage milk cap, I got in my Jenni Bowlin Kit from last month and rub on letters from 7 Gypsies.

These are some old paper milk caps I found at a flea market.....Been trying to find a cool place for them....I cut into the circle all the way around and bent one part forward and the other part back.....Making this unique little flower.

I pray that everyone remembers the reason for the season. Whatever your belief may be. Jesus came so that we could have life. So live everyday, enjoy every moment and Stay away from the mall it only causes you stress....LOL. If you can't find that special toy your child wants for Christmas wrap up a note in a box and tell them they will get it when all the craze from the holiday subsides. We all tend to walk a little on the dark side when it comes to stuff like that. Take a look around at all the beauty, Christmas lights, Family, Beautiful trees and decorations, Family, Yummy food and sweets, Family, Family, Family and Family. I hope all of you have a wonderful time with Family. Hugs, Amy

  1. I love your layout and the wonderful story about the ornaments on your blog. I love Christmas also as a family time together - so many shared traditions - but sometimes the commercial side just makes me sick. I agree that we need to remember the reason we are celebrating - but it's hard not to get caught up in the busy-ness, partying, and shopping. One of my favorite memories (my son and I were discussing it this past Thanksgiving day) was Brian reading the final chapter from A Christmas Carol every Christmas eve as we had dessert by the tree. Such a special memory for us! Have a great week!
